Black News Channel? Where was I?

I’m not sure how I feel about the way this was marketed because I never tuned in.

Unfortunately, lookforbob.com is letting you all know that the Black News Channel is folding. From the perspective of lookforbob.com, BNC was a news channel that would have been a major influencer of the black culture and the news that receive. BNC billed itself as “…an independent network that is minority owned and operated, and the nation’s only provider of 24/7 cable news programming dedicated to covering the unique perspective of African American communities.” The channel was co-founded by black, former congressman, J.C. Watts. Watts actually represented Oklahoma as a Republican congressman. According the Wall Street Journal, Shad Khan, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, had invested roughly $50 million (wow!). The hosts (pictured) were Mike Hill and Sharon Reed.
I’m really surprised that I had never heard much about this channel. In recent months, the network had added Mark Lamont Hill to their lineup. I MAY have seen a clip on YouTube with him in it, but unfortunately, they were a TV network that I never saw, particularly with Mark Hill. Mark Hill joined along the same time as Charles Blow (BET) in April. Those are two brothers with plenty of influence, but yet they were unable to help BNC reverberate in the Black community.

The network was based in Tallahasse, FL with beautiful headquarters. Recently, the network had been headed up by Princell Hair who joined in July, 2020.
I really wish I had known more about it.
