They Grew Up Doing Puzzles Together. Then They Noticed Something Was Missing.
Ericka and William have been doing puzzles since elementary school — siblings building something together, piece by piece, working toward a shared goal. But as they got older, they noticed a persistent gap: almost none of the images on puzzle boxes looked like them, their family, or their community.
That gap became a mission. They founded Puzzles of Color — a Black-owned family business dedicated to uplifting artists of color by transforming their work into premium, frameable jigsaw puzzles.
Puzzles of Color isn’t just selling puzzles. It’s building a pipeline for artists. Every puzzle in their collection features original artwork by a commissioned artist of color — from bold abstract works to historical illustrations, Black female leads to cultural celebrations. When you assemble a Puzzles of Color piece, you are literally recreating a work of art, becoming the artist yourself.
The collections span 100 to 1,000 pieces, organized by theme, difficulty, and series — including Debut, Sophomore, Growth, Flow, Empowered, Pride, and the newest release: Black Lore. Custom puzzles are available for personal and corporate gifting.
As Seen On: Essence, CBS Mornings, Ebony, The Drew Barrymore Show, The View, HuffPost, and Roland Martin Unfiltered. Physical retail in Richardson, TX. Ships nationwide.
Their mission is simple and powerful: give people imagery that is worth framing, featuring people and stories that reflect the full range of human experience — especially the experiences that puzzle aisles have long ignored.
Find Puzzles of Color on LookForBOB.com. Every piece you place is a purchase that pays an artist of color and puts a story on your table that belongs there.
